On reading well
Everybody seems to agree that learning is a lifetime process. Although a Chinese saying expresses that a teacher is better than two books, but we don’t always have a teacher. On certain point in time, at the time we graduate, we should see how our learning pace significantly reduce. Therefore, reading book is definitely the only effective learning process. The key too a good reader is exactly similar to the key to biking. Just start reading. Firstly, pick up a light material, for an example, a popular magazine. Read it regularly until it becomes a habit. If you keep doing it, later you will realize that you will be able to enjoy a thick serious book.
I applied this to my ex. She didn’t like reading, because she said she couldn’t manage all those information. I started with writing to her a short story, could be two or three paragraphs. Later on I gave her a few pages paper. Now, I believe she can read pretty good.
For my case, when I was kid, in elementary school, I read a lot history of my country besides reading a lot cartoons, mostly Japanese cartoons. But I saw that my father liked reading serious writing. He underlined a few sentences in his reading, because I couldn’t manage to read them all, I only read those sentences he had underlined. Those were the most deadly sentences, so well written, so romantic, and so great. I still remember one sentence he underlined was: Jika kamu tidak bertaat pada asas, maka kamu membuka kemungkinan untuk disakiti orang lain dan menyakiti orang lain. No english lah for the moment.
